- Contents
- Foreword
- 1. Purpose
- 2. Scope [Go to Page]
- 2.1 This standard provides test procedures for determining heating capacity, cooling capacity, coefficients of performance (COPs), and energy efficiency ratios (EERs) for systems, as defined in Section 3.
- 2.2 This standard applies only to electrically driven, mechanical vapor-compression refrigeration systems.
- 2.3 This standard applies to the testing of heat pumps with an outdoor refrigerant to test liquid heat exchanger utilized to condition the refrigerant entering the system under test. This standard does not apply to individual assemblies for separate use
- 3. Definitions and Symbols [Go to Page]
- 3.1 Definitions. All terms in this document shall follow the standard industry definitions in the current edition of ASHRAE Terminology of Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration 1 unless otherwise defined in this section.
- 3.2 Nomenclature
- 4. Classifications [Go to Page]
- 4.1 Type 1—DX-to-Air Split System. Compressor and indoor coil are in separate cabinets. Indoor coil is with or without a fan (see Figure 1).
- 4.2 Type 2—DX-to-Air Packaged System. Compressor and indoor coil are in one cabinet, with or without a fan (see Figure 2).
- 4.3 Type 3—DX-to-Water Split System. Compressor and indoor water-to-refrigerant heat exchanger are in separate cabinets. Indoor heat exchanger is with or without a pump (see Figure 3).
- 4.4 Type 4—DX-to-Water Packaged System. Includes compressor and indoor water-to-refrigerant heat exchanger in one cabinet. Indoor heat exchanger is with or without a pump (see Figure 4).
